One of King's Cross's most celebrated restaurants, Dim Sum Duck, is expanding with a second location set to open in February 2026, just a two-minute walk from its original site.
The new restaurant, taking over the former Meat House premises on Pentonville Road, will serve the same beloved menu that has earned Dim Sum Duck a reputation as one of London's finest dim sum destinations.
"Everything I've eaten from here has been astonishing," wrote acclaimed food critic Marina O'Loughlin in The Times, capturing the sentiment of countless satisfied diners who have made the restaurant a neighbourhood institution.
The expansion comes as a direct response to overwhelming demand. The intimate original location has been consistently packed since opening, with tables often booked weeks in advance. The new space will help accommodate the growing number of fans eager to experience their handmade dim sum and signature Cantonese roast duck.
What sets Dim Sum Duck apart is not just quality but accessibility. With their whole roast duck priced at around £15, they've proven that exceptional Chinese cuisine doesn't require exceptional prices. The all-day dim sum selection features classics executed with precision, from delicate har gow to perfectly pleated siu mai.
"We're thrilled to be able to serve more of our community," the restaurant shared on social media. "The support we've received since opening has been incredible, and this expansion lets us welcome even more guests to share in what we love doing."
The new Pentonville Road location will operate seven days a week, matching the original restaurant's hours. For those who've struggled to secure a booking at the small original spot, the timing couldn't be better.
Dim Sum Duck's success story represents a broader trend in London's dining scene: neighbourhood restaurants built on quality, fair pricing, and genuine passion for their craft finding devoted audiences willing to queue for something special.
