ZuCot Gallery Celebrates Status as Southeast's Largest African American Art Gallery

Atlanta, Atlanta · February 1, 2025

A story about Omari J. Henderson & Onaje Henderson

In a city rich with artistic heritage, ZuCot Gallery stands as a beacon of cultural achievement. Under the leadership of Decatur natives Omari J. Henderson and Onaje Henderson, ZuCot has grown to become the largest African American fine arts gallery in the Southeast—a distinction that reflects both business acumen and deep commitment to elevating Black artists.

The Henderson brothers have created more than a gallery; they've built a platform that has advanced the careers of countless African American artists while making fine art accessible to a diverse clientele. From high-end collectors to first-time buyers, ZuCot welcomes all who appreciate the power of art to transform spaces and lives.

Omari Henderson, who serves as partner and co-owner, brings a unique blend of educational background, business expertise, and genuine passion for art. Beyond the gallery, he founded The Art Brothers Foundation and Youth Challenge Inc., organizations dedicated to enriching young minds through entrepreneurship, art, and technology. He currently serves as chair of the boards for True Colors Theatre Company and Park Pride, and as a board member of Elevate Atlanta.

Onaje Henderson, serving as partner and gallery director, has been instrumental in the gallery's growth and community presence. His expertise in art selection has helped corporate executives and enthusiasts alike understand the importance of owning one's culture. He serves on the Fulton County Arts Council, formed by Mayor Andre Dickens in 2023, and supports organizations including Hammonds House, Art Papers, and Youth Challenge Inc.

Both brothers are Tuskegee University graduates who've channeled their education into community impact. When asked about lessons learned, Omari advises: 'Lean into ambiguity, and always be open to pivot when new or better opportunities are presented.'

ZuCot Gallery represents what's possible when passion, vision, and community commitment converge—proving that Atlanta's art scene is as vibrant and essential as ever.
