Top Chef Star Kevin Gillespie's Nàdair Earns Michelin Recognition in First Year

Atlanta, Atlanta · February 1, 2025

A story about Kevin Gillespie

Celebrity chef Kevin Gillespie continues to shape Atlanta's culinary identity with Nàdair, his latest restaurant concept that earned Michelin recognition in 2024 within months of its March opening—a remarkable achievement that solidifies his status as one of the South's most influential restaurateurs.

Gillespie, who captured America's hearts as a fan favorite on Bravo's Top Chef season six, has built an empire rooted in thoughtful, ingredient-driven cooking. Nàdair joins his acclaimed Gunshow in Glenwood Park, which has also been included in the Atlanta Michelin guide as a recommended restaurant.

The journey from Top Chef competitor to Michelin-recognized restaurateur represents a remarkable transformation. Gillespie originally signed up for the reality competition in 2009 to save Woodfire Grill, his then-struggling Atlanta restaurant. Today, his Red Beard Restaurants group stands as a testament to perseverance and culinary vision.

Gillespie's accolades extend far beyond television fame. He was a 2022 finalist for the James Beard Foundation's Outstanding Restaurateur Award, and his 2013 cookbook 'Fire in My Belly' earned a James Beard Award nomination. He's been a semifinalist and finalist for the Best Chef: South Award multiple times, demonstrating consistent excellence.

In 2025, Gillespie expanded his community impact by joining the Meals On Wheels Atlanta board of trustees, reflecting his commitment to using his platform for good. The Art Institute of Atlanta graduate believes in giving back to the city that embraced him.

His advice for aspiring restaurateurs comes from his first culinary instructor: 'Join a gym and go three times a week. This is a very physically demanding job. I wish I had listened!'

With both Gunshow and Nàdair earning Michelin recognition, Gillespie has proven that authentic Southern cooking, elevated with technique and creativity, deserves a place among the world's finest restaurants.
