Steven Satterfield's Madeira Park Named Among Bon Appétit's Best Bars of 2025

Westside, Atlanta · February 1, 2025

A story about Steven Satterfield

James Beard Award-winning chef Steven Satterfield has done it again. His newest venture, Madeira Park, a wine bar and restaurant that opened in 2025, has been recognized by Bon Appétit as one of the 9 Best Bars of 2025—a national honor that brings well-deserved attention to Atlanta's sophisticated beverage scene.

Satterfield, the executive chef and co-owner of the beloved Miller Union in Atlanta's Westside neighborhood, has long been celebrated for his deceptively simple cooking style that showcases local produce and community-driven cuisine. With Madeira Park, he extends that philosophy to the world of wine and cocktails.

The recognition continues an impressive streak for Satterfield and his restaurants. Miller Union, which opened in 2009, has been featured in Bon Appétit, Food & Wine, and Esquire. In 2017, Satterfield won the James Beard Foundation's Best Chef: Southeast award, and Miller Union has been included in the Atlanta Michelin guide as a recommended restaurant in both 2023 and 2024. Eater also included Miller Union on its list of the country's Most Essential Restaurants.

A Georgia Tech graduate and Atlanta native, Satterfield's approach reflects his deep Southern roots. His 2015 cookbook, 'Root to Leaf: A Southern Chef Cooks through the Seasons,' received broad acclaim and exemplifies his farm-to-table philosophy.

Beyond the kitchen, Satterfield is an active member of Chefs Collaborative, Slow Food Atlanta, the Southern Foodways Alliance, and Georgia Organics—organizations that reflect his commitment to sustainable food systems.

Few know that Satterfield has a hidden talent: he's a singer, songwriter, and guitarist with the indie rock band Seely, demonstrating the creative spirit that infuses all his endeavors.

Madeira Park represents the natural evolution of Satterfield's vision—a place where Atlanta's food lovers can gather over exceptional wines in an atmosphere that feels both refined and welcoming.
