Seattle's beloved restaurateur Renee Erickson has done it again. After announcing plans in 2024, her Sea Creatures restaurant group has officially opened three new establishments in Pioneer Square's Railspur development, transforming the historic neighborhood into a must-visit dining destination.
The trio of restaurants showcases Erickson's range and ambition. Lowlander Brewing operates as an upscale brewpub and sports bar, offering craft beers brewed on-site alongside elevated pub fare. Connected to Lowlander is Un Po Tipsy, a pizzeria serving Sea Creatures' interpretation of the beloved comfort food.
The crown jewel may be Mio Oh Mio, a sit-down restaurant that draws culinary influence from both London and Italy. The name pays homage to legendary Mariners broadcaster Dave Niehaus's famous catchphrase 'My Oh My'—a fitting tribute given the development's proximity to the stadium district.
The openings represent a major investment in Pioneer Square's culinary revival. Once known primarily for its historic architecture and proximity to the stadiums, the neighborhood is now becoming a food destination in its own right, thanks in large part to Erickson's vision.
Erickson has long been one of Seattle's most influential culinary figures. Her Sea Creatures group operates multiple acclaimed restaurants across the city, including The Walrus and the Carpenter, Bateau, and Willmott's Ghost. Her commitment to quality ingredients, thoughtful hospitality, and distinctive design has earned her multiple James Beard Award nominations.
The Railspur project demonstrates her continued belief in Seattle's dining future. By clustering three complementary concepts in one development, she's created a mini-destination where diners can choose their experience—casual beers and pizza or a refined sit-down meal—all within steps of each other.
For Pioneer Square, the openings signal a new chapter. The neighborhood that once anchored Seattle's earliest days is being reimagined as a modern culinary hub, with Erickson leading the charge.
